Podcast Using Gestures: Even Audio Podcasts

It’s a fact – using your hands when you speak can invigorate an audience. So when you are behind a mic for an audio show, do you stop doing it? Does it hurt or help the show? Absolutely. Also, I stand up – My voice is totally different when I stand. People can also hear your smile. I learned all of this in a thirty year broadcasting career. People think it doesn’t matter, but everything you do changes your energy and therefore what people hear. – Dorothy Wilhelm – It’s Never Too Late When the presidential elections roll through like a...

Remove an Old Podcast from iTunes Store [How-To]

A couple weeks ago I wrote an article on how to Submit your podcast to iTunes. Because of that I was asked the question:   I just migrated from Squarespace – 5 to 6 for my blog that hosts my podcast feeds. In so doing, even though the blog podcast has the same url, I had to resubmit them to iTunes in order to have them work – and they have been approved. The catch is that my old invalid feeds are still listed in iTunes as well. Any idea how to remove those invalid feeds from iTunes directory? – Rob Schertzer,...

Add Your Own Thumbnail to YouTube Videos [How-To]

For the longest time YouTube only allowed partners to create a special thumbnail for their videos. It really gave a unfair advantage to others trying to build their videos on the YouTube platform. Now that its changing we can all partake in creating eye-catching images for YouTube and for our websites – especially if you host outside of Youtube as well. You may not have this ability just yet as they are slowly rolling out the process. When you do get it, you will see a “Choose Thumbnail” option pop up in your edit screen. I have two hosts –...

I’m on vacation this week so I hope you enjoy this re-rerun of a podcast that originally ran in January of 2009… This is the first line in Mignon Fogarty’s podcast: Grammar Girl Quick and Dirty Tricks for Better Writing a couple weeks ago. She then went on with the podcast while relaxing at the Panama Canal. We all need a vacation from things – especially our podcasts. Time to Restructure – Make Your Podcast Successful

I know – It’s your baby – You built it and feel it is doing well. But maybe a change could bring more listeners. Maybe a change will keep people on your podcast a little longer. It could be a difference from 100 listens and 1,000 or more. It’s important to review how your show is doing and make changes. After all – how do you get better if you don’t review what you are doing? Do you even listen to your own podcast? If not (or have no reason to even after this post), then stop reading here. If...
